Glass Wool Board: Reading The Test Data Before Selection

Thermal insulation projects often begin with a thickness discussion, but the material data deserve the same attention. The supplied product information lists a thermal conductivity of no more than 0.038 W/(m·K) at an average temperature of 25℃±1℃ and no more than 0.044 W/(m·K) at 70℃±1℃.

The same glass wool board data also specify an average fiber diameter of no more than 7.0 μm and a shrinkage temperature under load of at least 250℃. Dimensional tolerances are separately stated for length, width, thickness, and density, which matters when boards have to fit repeated wall or roof cavities without excessive trimming.

Fire behavior is another documented point. The product information lists Class A(A1) reaction-to-fire criteria, including a furnace temperature rise limit of 30℃, mass loss no more than 50%, no sustained flaming, and gross heat value no more than 2.0 MJ/kg.

For a practical order, glass wool board thickness, density, facing requirement, quantity, and installation area should be confirmed together. That prevents the project team from choosing by one parameter while overlooking fit, fire classification, or handling needs. For wall or roof use, the board layout should also consider joint position and cavity size so repeated pieces can be installed without unnecessary compression or open gaps. This also supports cleaner installation planning.
