As basic materials widely used in modern industry, the quality of rubber and plastic products directly impacts the performance and safety of end products. Therefore, establishing a scientific and standardized inspection process is crucial to ensuring the quality of rubber and plastic products.


Inspection of rubber and plastic products is typically divided into three stages: raw material inspection, production process monitoring, and final inspection of finished products. First, at the raw material stage, the physical properties (such as density and hardness), chemical composition (such as additive content), and thermal characteristics (such as melt index) of plastic granules or rubber are tested to ensure compliance with production standards. Common inspection methods include infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and tensile testing.


After entering the production phase, semi-finished products require online monitoring, focusing on dimensional accuracy, cosmetic defects (such as bubbles and cracks), and processing stability. For example, coordinate measuring machines are used to inspect product geometry, while visual inspection systems are used to identify surface defects. Production parameters (such as temperature and pressure) are ensured to be within controllable ranges. If anomalies are detected, process adjustments are made promptly to avoid batch defects. Final testing is a critical step before shipment, encompassing three main categories of testing: mechanical properties, environmental resistance, and safety. Mechanical properties testing includes tensile strength, impact toughness, and abrasion resistance. Environmental resistance testing assesses a material's performance in high and low temperatures, UV light, or chemical exposure. Common methods include high and low temperature cycling and salt spray testing. Furthermore, rubber and plastic products intended for food contact or medical use must undergo VOC (volatile organic compound) emission testing and biocompatibility testing to meet regulatory requirements.


The rigor of the testing process directly impacts the reliability of rubber and plastic products. Companies should integrate industry standards (such as ISO and ASTM) with customer requirements, employing a combination of automated testing equipment and manual re-inspections to ensure data accuracy and traceability. Comprehensive quality control throughout the entire process not only enhances product competitiveness but also provides safety assurance for downstream applications.
